Sara Ramirez
Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American performer, actress and songwriter for several years. Her mother was her primary caregiver in the USA in a place where she endured numerous racial slurs that left her feeling like a non-person. It was during her ninth grade that she gained confidence following her acclaim at an audition. The event not only helped to boost her confidence, but also changed her outlook on life. She was a graduate of New York's Julliard School at the age of 22. At the age of 23 years old, she launched her journey in Broadway with Paul Simon's The Capeman. Then, at 23 years old, her movie debut was You've got mail. Her biggest break came with her role as The Lady of The Lake as she appeared in the original Broadway production of Spamalot. She won the Tony Award and received great reviews for her performance. Later in the same year she joined the ABC series Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider acceptance for the role. A singer by profession and producer, she's produced one single and an extended work. She is an activist who strives to promote LGBT equality.
